Combining the past with the future, Richard Nicoll’s Spring Summer 2012 collection captures a ski-fi take on the swinging sixties. Micro-mini baby doll and shift dresses began structured and star trek sculpted in hard or PCV fabrics, gradually fading into romantic ruffles in sheer silks. A selection of blues dominated the colour scheme, with muted neutrals in sugared almond pinks and caramels peaking through. Lose fitting trousers and mini’s in such light, airy fabrics gave the collection a bedtime feel, with sexy elegant undertones as the models glided down the catwalk. The collection was finalised with a sheer black floor length gown which embodied the elegance and innocence of the previous ruffled looks, yet sent out a stronger, bolder, yet mysterious statement to end on.
