The fact that a runway show is composed of an expansive red carpet with actors as models and occurs on the same day of the first major red carpet of the season is not likely to be happenstance when Miccia Prada is involved.
As one of the most directional designers in the industry, it means something to have Adrien Brody, Gary Oldman, Willem Dafoe and Emilie Hirsch amongst other male celebrities instead of a cast of young strapping male models of the moment. While there was Clement Chabernaud, Adrien Sahores and Alexander Beck wearing the neo dandy suits of sartorial cuts with an English sensibility, the focus certainly wasn’t on them.
In addition to actors warranting attention, so did the coat. With one of them on almost every look, hitting at knee length with relatively short lapels, it’s clear that smart layering is Prada’s vision for the season. The coats, whether printed, or monochromatic, came over sweater vests, and button ups, all over thin turtle necks and at times even all under wide lapeled raincoats.
