A l’entrée de la Soirée, 1963
French label Agnès b. debuted a new exhibition this month in SoHo, New York. The Agnès b. Galerie Boutique showcases the work of international photographer Malick Sidibé’s selection of street and nightlife images he took during the 1960’s and 1970’s along with a collection of his original vintage prints. Sidibé was the only photographer documenting the dynamic period before Mali’s independence in France in 1960 and his work quickly bred a new generation of photographers. In 2008 he received the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award for Lifetime Achievement and has recently published a new book with Rizzoli entitled, ” The Portrait of Mali”.
